Books: bookkeeping without leaving your hiring tools.
Lightweight bookkeeping built into your employer portal: track income and expenses, send invoices, connect your bank, and see reports, without learning a full accounting system.
Already on Portal, Scale, or Corporate? Log in and open Books at /employer/books inside your portal.
What Books does
Manual entries, fast
Log income and expenses by hand in a couple of clicks, or import a CSV when you've got a batch to add at once.
Receipts attached
Attach a receipt to any entry so the paper trail lives right next to the transaction.
Simple invoicing
Create and send invoices, mark them paid, and send a reminder when one goes overdue. Invoices are records plus reminders, not a payment processor.
Connect your bank
Bank feeds via Plaid bring your transactions into Books so you're not re-typing them.
Basic reports
Profit and loss, expenses by category, and income by month, whenever you need a read on where things stand.
Hiring-cost tie-in
Timesheets and employee data already in your portal flow into Books, so cost-per-hire shows up right next to the job posting.
Ask Taylor
Taylor, the in-app assistant, answers read-only questions about your Books data: no entries made or invoices sent on its own.
Tax-ready reports
Reports organized by Schedule C and IRS categories, plus quarterly estimates, exportable to TurboTax, H&R Block, or your CPA. Books doesn't file anything for you.
How it works
Open Books in your portal
Sign in to your employer portal and go to /employer/books from the sidebar.
Add an entry
Click to add an income or expense entry, fill in the amount and category, and attach a receipt if you have one.
Import a CSV
Got a batch of transactions already? Upload a CSV and Books adds them in one pass instead of one at a time.
Send an invoice
Create an invoice, send it to your client, and mark it paid when it clears. Books sends a reminder automatically if it goes overdue.
Plans

Frequently asked questions
Does Books handle my taxes for me?
No. Books is bookkeeping only. It generates tax-ready reports (Schedule C, IRS categories, quarterly estimates) that you can export to TurboTax, H&R Block, or your CPA.
Does connecting my bank move real money?
No. Bank feeds (via Plaid) let you see your transactions inside Books. Invoicing works the same way: you create and send invoices and mark them paid, but Books itself never moves money.
Where do I find Books?
Books lives inside your employer portal at /employer/books. Basic Books is included on the Portal plan and up.
Can Taylor make entries or send invoices for me?
Taylor can answer read-only questions about your Books data. It doesn't add entries, import a CSV, or send an invoice on its own.
Ready to see your numbers next to your hiring?
